I don't always participate in these tags depending on how much blogging time I have. But, since I have a minute and I really enjoy reading, it is just finding the time to do it, I'll go ahead and post. So, here you go Denise...
This is from A Girl Named Zippy by Haven Kimmel. My Corpus book club read this around Christmas time, but since we were in the process on moving I am just getting around to reading it.

Bar Exam Blues
I've got the Colorado Bar Exam this Tuesday-Wednesday and it feels like law school all over again!! Actually, it hasn't been as bad this time around. My firm gave me the last 3 weeks off, so I've been able to study full time. I'll just be glad when it is over. We knew when we accepted this job that I'd have to take the bar again to get licensed in Colorado, so it was all part of the trade-off. But once its over, I can banish the nuances of Criminal Law, Family Law, etc. from my mind forever.

President's Day Holiday
President's Day was a holiday for us this year with so much family in town. We had a great weekend! Lamont's brothers, Bennett and Chase, made it to our house Friday night at about 8:30pm followed by my parents and two sisters, Melanie and Megan just past midnight. We had such a fun weekend with lots of good eating. We are at the Cheesecake factory above. On Saturday we had a big breakfast and then decided to head into downtown Denver. We first went to the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame at Mile High Stadium (where the Broncos play). It was actually pretty interesting.
We then hit Hammond's candy factory once again and went to Lamont's work downtown. But, we had to make it home by 7pm to watch BYU beat UNLV in a basketball game. We had so much fun playing games and just hanging out with everyone. It was too bad that everyone could only stay until Monday, to be back for work and school on Tuesday. Living in Denver is finally starting to have its advantages of family being able to come and visit us easier. Thanks for coming everyone!!!

A Casual Valentines Day
This year we decided to have a low key Valentines Day. The restraunts are always so crowded and we knew we would have a lot going on during the weekend with family in town. So, we stayed home with the boys and got Panda Express take-out. We set a nice table with balloons and hearts and enjoyed our Chinese food. Lamont bought a delicious double chocolate cake which we had for dessert. We then each opened a couple of Valentine presents from one another and just enjoyed some time reading Valentine books and watching Valentine shows. I actually really enjoyed the day without all the rushing around. The only bad part of the day was that Carter's school was cancelled that day due to snow and his Valentine's party had to be postponed. He was a little disappointed about that, but I think the evening fun and cards in mail made up for it.

Goodbye President Hinckley

It was so sad to say goodbye to President Hinckley today. He has meant so much to us. We know that he was a prophet and we will sure miss him.

It's Not Everyday That You Meet Mitt Romney...
Romney Campaign Stop - Denver, Colorado - 2/1/08
I found out this morning that Mitt Romney was making a campaign stop here in Denver. So of course I skipped work for the afternoon and we all went. It was held at a local Ford dealership. Several hundred people showed up along with every media group you can imagine. He gave a speech inside but it was wall-to-wall people so most of the crowd, like us, couldn't get in. But the crowd was pretty pumped up and it was a total rally-type atmosphere, so we got in our fair share of cheering. After his speech, Romney did several interviews with the local media and then came out to mingle with the crowd. Of course there were mobs of people swarming him, but we lucked out and managed to stand right by the door he went through. Carter and I both got to shake his hand and talk to him. It was awesome!
But not everyone there was pro-Romney. There were a dozen or so kooks with banners chanting "Romney supports abortion!" ad nausem. Probably Huckabee supporters.

Mel's Gone - Back to Normal
It sure was fun to have Melanie here for the past week. We went to the Rodeo, the candy factory, an art exhibit, and the BYU basketball game. We had a full week! We at well too - Cheesecake Factory, Rodizios, et al. The boys were sure sad to see her go. McKay is still talking about Aunt Melly at the airport, and Carter commented that it was so sad that our house seems so empty now. Thanks for coming to visit us and you'll have to come back again soon!

BYU - Air Force Game

We got tickets to go to the BYU-Air Force basketball game in Colorado Springs on Wednesday night. It was a ton of fun. BYU played a great game with lots of 3-pointers. The Air Force fans were pretty loud, and it was fun to cheer against them. We were suprised with how many BYU fans were there - maybe 10 or 15%. But some dorky Air Force cadets thought they were wise guys and dressed up like missionaries - white shirt, tie, bike helmet and all.

A Trip to the Rodeo and Candy Factory
Last week Carter's school had a fieldtrip to the National Western Stock Show. I thought we had left all the cowboys and horses behind in Texas, but boy was I wrong. My sister Melanie was in town visiting, so she got to join us as well. We had a fun time watching the bulls buck the cowboys and all the other events. They also had a little petting zoo. McKay absolutely loved this; he could not get enough of petting the sheep, pigs, goats, and even a llama. He just ran from animal to animal. Carter, however, kept asking if we were done yet and if he could go wash his hands.
We also went on a tour of Hammond's Candy Factory last weekend. It was a lot of fun to see how they make old fashion candy - and the best part was that they gave a lot of free samples!
